Ruby is the birthstone for the month of July. The name is derived from the Latin word ruber, meaning “red” – the colour of love and passion. Medieval Europeans maintained that rubies bestowed health, wisdom, wealth and success in love.

Red Carnelian is an alternative stone to ruby for July birthdays. Also included in this collection are other pieces that boast the colour tones of the birthstone but not the stone itself.
